Danga Bay Marina Focus Of The World Print

JOHOR BAHARU, Oct 19 (Bernama)-- Nearly 80 yachts and sailboats from 16 countries are gathered at the RM65 million Marina at the Danga bay here for the "Discover Malaysia by Sea" programme.

The three-day programme, which starts from Oct 30 and is aimed at promoting Malaysia to the boating and sailing community, will see participation from as far Antigua and Vanuatu to Canada and the United Kingdom.

Australia is the biggest participant with 29 boats followed by the United Kingdom with 11.

State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Domestic Trade Hoo Seong Chang when launching he event here today said Danga Bay Marina was ideal stopover for sailing enthusiasts from all over the world.

"And in line with the Johor Goverment's tourism policy and the country's Malaysia My Second Home(M2H) Programme, we see vast potential.

"Yachts and sailboats owners entering Malaysia normally stay between three months to a year and we must take this opportunity to show our hospitality, Johor style," he said.

He added that the Marina at Danga Bay with it's close proximity to the city and also Singapore, would make it an ideal hub for the leisure boat owners.

The three day programme is being jointly organised by Danga Bay and Passion Asia Ltd with the support of the Johor Tourism Action Council, Iskandar Malaysia and UEM Land.

And part of the programme will include talks on sailing and living in Malaysia for the foreign visitors with updates on new facilities and infrastructures available in the country.
